Doyle was born July 29, 1944, in Olney, Texas to William Morris McEwen and Ada Ozell Jackson McEwen. He died April 04, 2017, in San Jose, California. Doyle grew up in Megargel, Texas, and graduated there in 1962.

He joined the U.S. Navy to see the world, and he did that; traveling all over the place on every ocean. He served 26 years from 1963-1989 making him a veteran of the Vietnam War. He said the Navy was good to him, and he hoped he was good for it, because he loved it.

His Navy career began with VW-13, then came HS-6, a shore tour at FAETUPAC, NAS North Island, San Diego, California. Finally VP's: VP-50 (69-75), AWA School Staff (75-78), VP-9 (79-81), VP-31 (82-85), and last but not least VP-48 (85-89).

After retirement, Doyle stayed in San Jose where he had finished his career. He held several part-time jobs until his health caused him to fully retire.

But in the meantime, he enjoyed bass fishing and entering tournaments, and even placed a few times. He really enjoyed playing "42", after learning from the master, his dad. He spent the last few years reconnecting with some of his classmates and reminiscing; an activity he also enjoyed, that could be done from his home.

Doyle was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sue McEwen. Doyle is survived by his three children: Pam Cundari and husband Tony of Illinois, Bryan McEwen and spouse of Missouri, and Kelli Hegewen and spouse of Nevada. He had four granddaughters and one grandson.

Also surviving is his sister Ruth Garner and husband Bill of Texas and brother Carlton McEwen and wife Edna of Texas and niece and nephews. Doyle will be interred in Sacramento Valley National Cemetery. From
